día de los muertos

El día 1 y 2 de noviembre se celebra el dia de los muertos en México o la fiesta de todos los Santos en otros países. En la clase de español vamos a crear máscaras de calaveras, papel picado y un bonito altar. También vamos a probar el pan de muerto para celebrar este día. No te lo pierdas!

On November 1st and 2nd people in Mexico celebrate the Day of the Dead, also called All Saints Day in other Spanish-speaking countries. In the Spanish class we will create colorful skull masks, cut-out banners and a beautiful altar. We will also have a taste of the Day of the Dead bread to celebrate this day. Come join us!
 

Google Voice para hacer tu tarea de español

 A partir de hoy todos los alumnos de tercer, cuarto y quinto grado podrán enviar sus tareas orales a través de Google Voice. El número al que deberán llamar es el 773 769-7264 (773-sox pang) y dejar su mensaje. Nuestro objetivo es facilitar que los estudiantes hagan su tarea y la presenten a tiempo con una simple llamada.

As of today, all third, fourth and fifth grade students can send their speaking homework through Google Voice. The number they have to call is 773 769-7264 (773-sox pang) and leave their message. Our goal is to make it easy for students to do their homework and give them different venues to submit it.

Edmodo es una pagina web segura para escuelas donde los estudiantes intercambian informacion, hacen sugerencias y se comunican con su maestro y compañeros. Es una oportunidad más para practicar español fuera de la clase. Todos las madres y padres recibieron sus codigos de registro y estan invitados a participar!


Our 5th grade students are now participating in Edmodo.com!
Edmodo is a secure social learning network used by many schools, teachers and students around the world. We will use Edmodo to communicate with each other primarily in Spanish because we want to practice our Spanish outside of the classroom. All parents should have received their registration codes and are invited to participate on Edmodo!

Pen pal exchange in the Spanish class

Este año los alumnos de quinto y octavo van a tener una nueva experiencia en la clase de español: vamos a iniciar un intercambio con los alumnos de quinto y octavo de la escuela Murray Language Academy. Al principio vamos a ser amigos por correspondencia pero más adelante vamos a hacer proyectos juntos e incluso excursiones para conocernos mejor y practicar español fuera de la clase.


This current year our fifth and eighth grade students will have a new experience in the Spanish class: we are initiating an exchange program with fifth and eight grade students at Murray Language Academy. We will start with a pen pal exchange but later on we would like to do projects together and even fieldtrips to get to know each other better and practice our Spanish outside of the classroom.
